Giving each process one contiguous block of RAM leaves holes that are too small to use. Paging splits memory into fixed-size pages and frames, so any page can go into any free frame. Use it for address translation numericals and page table size calculations. It removes external fragmentation but still wastes a little space inside the last page of each process.
