Infra (Infrastructure as Code)

Describe infrastructure in code with Terraform, so it can be reviewed, repeated and rolled back.

About Infra (Infrastructure as Code)

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) means describing servers, networks and databases in text files instead of clicking through a console. Terraform is the most widely used tool: you declare what you want, and it works out how to create or change it.

Because the code lives in Git, infrastructure changes can be reviewed, repeated and rolled back like any other code.

Why it matters for placements

Terraform appears in most DevOps job descriptions. Interviewers ask about state, plan vs apply, modules and how teams work on the same infrastructure safely.

What you'll learn

3 topics · 9 lessons, each with practice

  • Write Terraform configurations with providers, resources and variables
  • Explain state, the plan and apply cycle, and drift
  • Reuse infrastructure with modules
  • Store state remotely and manage multiple environments

Required. Enough to clear online assessments and service-company interviews.

IaC Basics

Building cloud setups by clicking in a console leaves no record, no review and no easy way to rebuild. Infrastructure as Code fixes that by keeping infrastructure in files, and these basics explain why teams adopt it and how its tools think.

Terraform

Not started

Terraform is the most widely used IaC tool, and it works the same way across AWS, Azure, GCP and many other APIs. This topic covers writing resources, reading a plan before applying, the state file Terraform depends on, and modules for reuse.

Advanced IaC

Once a team shares Terraform, new problems appear: two people applying at once, several environments from one codebase, and manual changes that break the match between code and cloud. This topic covers the tools and habits that keep shared infrastructure safe.
