Probability measures how likely an outcome is, from coin tosses and dice to drawing cards or balls from a bag. It is favourable outcomes divided by total outcomes, and the counting tools from permutations and combinations do most of the work. Reach for the complement rule whenever you see "at least one", since 1 minus the chance of none is far quicker. Watch for draws without replacement, where the total shrinks after each pick.
