Running three copies of an app by hand means restarting crashed ones and replacing old versions yourself. A Deployment declares the image and replica count, and Kubernetes keeps that true, healing failures and doing rolling updates. Use it for stateless services like web servers and APIs. Databases that need stable identity and storage usually use a StatefulSet instead, but the Deployment is the object you will meet most.
