Remembering the flags, networks and volumes for every container in your stack is tedious and hard to share with teammates. A Compose file writes it all down in one reviewable YAML file. Use it for local development and simple single-server setups where you want docker compose up to bring everything up. For running across many machines with self-healing and scaling, use an orchestrator such as Kubernetes instead.
