Saying "this table has redundancy" is vague, so normal forms give checkable rules for removing it step by step. 1NF asks for atomic values, 2NF removes dependencies on part of a key, and 3NF removes transitive ones. Apply them when designing a schema or when asked for the highest normal form of a relation with given FDs. Always find the candidate keys first, since every check depends on knowing which attributes are prime.
