If you rebuild the app separately for staging and production, a dependency can change in between, and what you tested is not what you shipped. Build artifacts fix this: build once, give it an immutable version, and promote the same file everywhere. Use this whenever code moves through more than one environment, with settings like the database URL injected at run time. Avoid moving tags like latest when you need to know exactly what is running.
