Vocabulary questions ask for synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutions and idioms. You cannot memorise the dictionary, so roots and prefixes, context and elimination help you handle words you have never seen. Use roots when a word looks unfamiliar but has a known part, like "bene-" or "-cide". Pair this with a short list of high-frequency test words rather than long lists you will not revise.
