When you must fit as many meetings or tasks as possible into one schedule, trying every combination is exponential. Activity selection sorts by end time and always picks the activity that finishes earliest, which leaves the most room for the rest. Use it when every activity is worth the same and you want the maximum count. If activities carry different values or weights, greedy fails and you need DP, like weighted interval scheduling.
