Mock Interview in India

The Indian hiring loop is not the US loop. Machine coding, LLD rounds and IST-friendly slots with interviewers who have hired here.

The Indian product company loop differs from the US big tech loop in one structural way: the machine coding round. Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, CRED, Razorpay and most of the well-known product companies run a 60 to 90 minute build round where you produce working, extensible code, followed by a design discussion about what you built. American loops usually have no equivalent, so preparation aimed at US big tech leaves the highest-weighted round untouched.

Low-level design also carries far more weight here. SOLID principles, class modelling and extensibility are tested as a dedicated round rather than folded into system design. Meanwhile the DSA bar at Indian offices of Google, Amazon and Microsoft matches their global bar, so candidates applying to both tracks need to prepare both shapes.

Scheduling matters more than it should. Practice sessions at 2am help nobody, so 1:1 slots here run in IST with interviewers who have taken hiring decisions in this market and can tell you where the bar actually sits for the companies you are targeting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Indian interview loop different from the US one?

The machine coding round. Most Indian product companies run a 60 to 90 minute build round where you write working, extensible code and then defend the design. Low-level design is also a dedicated round here rather than part of system design. US big tech loops usually have neither.

Is the DSA bar lower at Indian offices of global companies?

No. Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta apply the same global bar and often the same question bank at their India offices. What changes is the local product company track alongside it, which weights building and design more heavily.

Can I book 1:1 sessions in IST?

Yes - the interviewer panel includes engineers based in India, so sessions run in IST rather than at hours that make honest performance impossible.

Should freshers prepare differently?

Campus and off-campus fresher loops weight DSA heavily and usually skip or lighten the machine coding round. Start with the SDE-1 track and add machine coding practice once the coding rounds are comfortable.
